Newer players can ignore the parts of this that don't apply to them, as it is not an essential part of the game.
This game takes place in 150 BC, about 20 or 30 years after TREIII left off, which means if you had an older character from TREIII, TREII, or -by some rare chance TRE I-then you are allowed to remember your character and their history from any of those games (but please try to forget family hatreds) . We are continuing from the storyline of TREIII. However, more than 10 years ago there was a devastating barbarian invasion of Visigoth tribes that sacked Rome and half a dozen other major cities. In that time period a new barbarian king was set upon a puppet Roman government, while the Visigoth tribe has poorly and unfairly ruled Rome. All Roman laws and histories have been all but completely destroyed. Anything in TREIII, TREII, or TREI that existed has been passed on purely from word of mouth.
Now is the time for revolution, as the "King" Beralic has left Rome to travel to Hispania to negotiate alliances with Celtic tribes. The barbarians are ruling, but Romans can still sign up for the existing Roman legion or Roman navy which are still primarily Roman.
The underground movement of Roman Revolution has begun, and now it is time to play a helping hand!
